How to Stay Healthy and Still Enjoy Downtown Las Vegas

It’s understandable to want to exercise a little more caution these days when deciding to take a vacation. Downtown Las Vegas understands the importance of the health of our guests and has implemented new ways to help everybody stay safe while visiting. Although the recent COVID-19 pandemic has shifted the way visitors choose to enjoy Sin City in many ways, there are plenty of things you can do to stay safe while still making the most of your vacation!

Here are some tips on how to stay healthy while enjoying your stay in Downtown Las Vegas:

Always Practice Social Distancing

With Downtown Las Vegas being one of the most popular destinations in the city, you might assume that social distancing rules are thrown out the window.

Not true! In fact, all hotels, casinos, bars, and restaurants in Downtown Las Vegas are taking significant measures to ensure guests can keep their distance.

Citrus at the Grand Pool

All you have to do is be aware of others around you and do your best to stay six feet apart whenever possible. Don’t worry, most places will have markers already set up, and restaurants have spaced tables out to the appropriate distance. Just remember that social distancing will help you and your friends stay safe, as well as show respect to those around you.

Wear Your Mask in Public Areas

Wearing your facemask is not only required indoors and in public areas of Las Vegas right now, but it is also one of the best ways to make sure you’re doing your part to stay safe. Your mask should be worn over both your nose and mouth while inside casinos, hotels, restaurants (except while you’re eating or drinking), and all other public places as of this time.

The Downtown Grand and many other casinos in Las Vegas will provide a mask for you if you don’t have one. However, it’s always a good idea to bring your own just in case. After all, you’re in Vegas! Why not customize or mix and match your facemasks with your favorite outfits? There’s nothing wrong with a little style while staying healthy.

Wash Your Hands Often

Even if you’re doing your best to avoid touching doors, elevator buttons, or other surfaces, you should still wash your hands often and for the recommended amount of time. Washing your hands will help you stay germ-free and protect you from inadvertently spreading any virus or bacteria that you may have come in contact with.

Washing your hands is quick and easy with bathrooms in every hotel and casino in Downtown Las Vegas. Take a minute and work up those suds to help you stay healthy while exploring Sin City.

Carry Your Own Hand Sanitizer

Although you’ll notice that hand sanitizer is widely available at most hotels or casinos, keeping a small bottle of hand sanitizer or packet of wipes in your pocket or purse is always helpful. Depending on where you’re going, you might not have public dispensers whenever you need them. When you’re touching surfaces like bar tops, slot machines, or rented bikes in Downtown Las Vegas, having your own hand sanitizer ready to go is just one more way to help you stay safe.

Choose To Sit Outside When Dining Out

If you’re planning on dining out while in Downtown Las Vegas, try to opt to sit outside whenever you can. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it is less risky to dine while sitting outdoors versus inside the restaurant. Many downtown restaurants and bars offer outdoor seating on their patios, so you’ll have plenty of options to choose from. Of course, remember to wear your mask before and after your meal, and be sure you’re sitting at least six feet away from any other party.

Along with the deck of the Citrus Grand Pool being open all year long in sunny Las Vegas, the Triple George Grill has a patio for outdoor seating that is currently socially distanced with staff wearing PPE for guests’ safety.

Check Out the “Vegas Smart” Guidelines

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) has put together a comprehensive list of guidelines on how to stay safe while visiting Las Vegas and what hotels and casinos are individually doing to keep guests healthy. Visit their Vegas Smart page for the latest recommendations, rules, and updates regarding COVID-19. It will help you and your group to stay safe and ensure you’re making the most informed decisions while enjoying Downtown Las Vegas.

Download the Free COVID Trace App

Nevada’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) offers a contact-tracing app that will notify you if you’re exposed to the COVID-19 virus during your visit to Las Vegas. The COVID Trace app is free to download and will let you know early on if you may have been in contact with somebody who has the virus. This way, you can quarantine yourself and seek medical attention sooner to help keep your friends and family safe. Participation with this app is strictly voluntary and anonymous but is available to you if you’d like to use it as an extra precaution.
