The Return of Grunge! The Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino Launches “City Soundtracks” Presented by Gibson
NEW Interactive Two Night Live Music Event Salutes the “MTV Unplugged” Generation and Will Take Fans on a Musical Journey Celebrating the Era-Defining Music of Seattle
Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden and MORE! Grunge Out at Freedom Beat and Celebrate the Sounds of Seattle as “City Soundtracks” Makes its First Stop in the Heart of the Alt Rock Scene on November 9-10 from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.
(Las Vegas October 23, 2017) – Why do some cities never sleep? The music is just too good. From underground venues to beer gardens and music halls to arena stages, some places rock out 24/7 with a style all their own. Jazz belongs to New Orleans. Nashville waves the country flag. Motown grooves in Detroit. Memphis has the blues. Seattle has grunge. In these musical meccas, the soundscape is more identifiable than the skyline and to celebrate the diverse sounds and legacies, Freedom Beat and Gibson have taken the musical reigns and are launching a new live music series: City Soundtracks Presented by Gibson.
Freedom Beat (Las Vegas’ home to the tastes and tunes of the American road) inside the Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino will celebrate the musical landscape with live music sessions featuring the sonic movements of a different city. The series begins with a two night event on November 9-10 and will put the focus on Seattle, where the grunge and alternative rock waves began on the amps of such legendary bands as Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and of course, Nirvana.
Curated by Nick Mattera and Patrick Genovese from Gibson (lead of Strung Out Sessions) and featuring some of the best musicians in Las Vegas, City Soundtracks inaugural session will serve as an ode to the MTV Unplugged sessions from the 90’s. The live music event will host three main stage performers along with a slew of guest performers, each possessing a unique talent specific to Seattle’s featured artists, allowing for an unmistakably familiar cover of the best songs from each catalogue. “Replicating such a vast collection of music history is not a one-size fits all performance” said lead singer and Gibson host Patrick Genovese, “We want to make sure we get it right with each note, each groove, and each performance so fans can get the most accurate representation of the sounds of that city; and to do that we are going to use the best musicians Vegas has to offer.”
Along with the musical tribute to this groundbreaking scene that sparked a generation, fans will get an intimate peak behind the curtain as Genovese regales fans with famous (or infamous) stories and trivia behind each song. In addition, guest requests will be encouraged throughout the night
making this a truly immersive concert experience. “Freedom Beat was built to celebrate the tastes and tunes of the American Road,” notes Downtown Grand GM, Kevin Glass. “We are continuously looking at ways of developing unique programming and live events that are free and unexpected. We are looking forward to celebrating the sounds of cities across the land in the coming months.”
Guests looking for the full Teen Spirit experience, can book the Grunge Room Package November 9-12. Complete with a 90’s survival kit that will add some alternative rock swag to your deluxe room, this package will also get you front row seats to the show as well as $100 dining credit during your stay.
Additionally, Freedom Beat will serve up a Seattle-inspired menu for this two-night musical journey, which will feature Grilled Oysters and Coffee Smoked Salmon, all paired with a regional cocktail or beverage.
